Dress

After checking out wedding dresses on the internet and becoming extremely disgusted with the outrageous prices (3,000 for a dress...are you kidding me) I had given up and was going to have my mother make my dress when I was looking at my favorite store online, Anthropologie and came upon the most perfect beautiful long dress. I waited until it went on sale and bought it at almost 50% off! Therefore my wedding dress cost only 79.95 plus shipping. I was nervous as I had not even tried it on, but it came in the mail and when i opened it, my eyes jumped out of my head. It was more beautiful than I had thought before and made of really nice material. And it fit perfectly. Again I feel very happy that in buying my dress I did not conform to the Wedding Industry and was able to buy my dress at a extremely reasonable price. Theres nothing wrong with those beautiful extravigant dresses, and there is nothing wrong with a beautifully simple dress under 100 dollars.

Location

we drove all over Northern Michigan looking for a good amount of space and natural beauty and all we found were wine vineyards and parks. Parks would have been great, but most of them do not allow alcohol, and an open bar is very important to us. Then while walking around East Lansing with my awesome friend Lindsey, we came up with the idea of having it at her house. Her place is a beautiful farmhouse in Leelenau County with a backyard full of old barns and gardens and TREES. We now have permission to use her family's estate to have our ceremony and reception :) And it makes it even more special because it is at the home of one of my best friends. So we're planning an outdoor everything with a tent and untent (hehe) and there will be a bonfire. Its 2 years away but i can still be excited about this. And best of all, its very inexpensive, we are not limited to caterers or working with some kind of management, just lovely freedom from all things wedding industry, and I can get behind that.

Here are some pictures I found on Lindsey's mom's facebook. Its so beautiful!

this is the beginning

Michael and I have two years or so before our unWedding goes down. But this fun Do it Ourselves art project has two years to become something awesome. Here is where we are going to list our ideas and details for our big party of love...that kind of sounds like a bad reality show.
